Materials up-front check

Materials up-front check calculator
Everything you’re buying in for this job — parts, fixtures, anything from a supplier.
What you’ll collect from the client before you order, if anything.
From the day the supplier’s invoice is due to the day the client’s payment clears.
What you paid the supplier that the deposit doesn’t cover.

Why materials cash is different from profit
Every other calculator on this site works out a price or a profit. This one works out something else — how much of your own money is sitting in a job’s materials, and for how long, before the client’s payment lands. A small materials share can still be a real amount of your own cash if the wait before payment runs long.
The deposit is what closes the gap
A deposit that at least covers the materials means a supplier bill never has to come out of your own pocket. The “deposit that would cover materials in full” figure above is the number to ask for if avoiding the wait is the goal — see deposits and progress invoices for how to ask.
Deciding who buys the materials in the first place — you, the client, or an allowance — changes this whole calculation. Who buys the materials covers all three.
Want the materials number sitting with the job?
BizBinder doesn’t track your supplier, your delivery, or your lead time — that’s still yours to manage. What it does is keep the materials cost on the job record next to the price and the invoice, so the numbers above start from the real job, not a guess.
