Waste and disposal scripts, for the messages the tip run makes you send

Six messages about job waste. Explain the disposal line on a quote, and ask a client if they want to keep old items. Ask before you act on extra waste found mid-job, and answer a client who wants to skip the charge. Sign off a clean site, and price special waste on its own. Fill in your details once at the top of this page, and every script below updates.

Waste brings small awkward messages. The client sees a disposal line and asks what it is. They want to keep the old fittings. You find more waste than the quote allowed for.

The first two scripts cover the disposal line and old items. The next two cover extra waste and a request to drop the charge. The last two cover a clean site and special waste. Fill in your details once at the top of this page, and every script below updates.

Scripts

Script 01 · The disposal line on the quote, explained

Email

Subject: Quote for [job], with disposal

Hi [Client name], Here is the quote for [job], [Amount]. It has a separate line for disposal, [disposal amount]. That covers the tip fee, the time for the run and my van. The line covers [what goes]. It does not cover [what stays]. If there is more waste than that, I will tell you before I add any cost. [Your name]

Why it works A separate, labelled line shows the client what disposal costs. The client also sees what it covers.

Script 02 · The client asks to keep or dispose of old items

Text

Hi [Client name], before I start on [job], do you want to keep the old [items], or should I take them away? If you keep them, I will leave them in [place] and take the disposal cost off the quote. If I take them, it is already in the price. Please reply so I have it in writing. [Your name]

Why it works A written answer before the job starts avoids an argument about who was meant to clear the waste.

Script 03 · Extra waste found mid-job

Text

Hi [Client name], I found [extra waste] behind [place]. It was not in the quote. Taking it away costs [extra amount]. I will not touch it until you reply. Do you want me to go ahead, or would you rather deal with it? [Your name]

Why it works Give the new cost and ask before you act. The client stays in control of the price.

Script 04 · The client wants to skip the disposal charge

Email

Subject: Disposal on [job]

Hi [Client name], I understand you would like to drop the disposal line. I can do that if you remove the waste yourself. That means [what goes] must be gone by [date]. The line is [disposal amount]. It covers the tip fee, the run and my van, so I cannot take the waste away for free. Tell me which you prefer, and I will update invoice [Invoice #]. [Your name]

Why it works Offer a real choice. The client can remove the waste or pay for you to do it.

Script 05 · The site-left-clean sign-off note

Text

Hi [Client name], [job] is finished. I swept [rooms], took away [what went], and covered the floors while I worked. [What stays] is in [place], as we agreed. Please check the site and tell me if anything is missing. [Your name]

Why it works A short note records the state you left the site in. It also shows the clean-up was part of the job.

Script 06 · Special waste found, priced separately

Email

Subject: Special waste at [job]

Hi [Client name], While working on [job], I found [item]. It needs special handling, and the rules differ by area. I will check the local rules before I decide what to do. I will price it as its own line, separate from the normal disposal. I will send you the cost before I touch it. [Your name]

Why it works Stop, say so, and price it on its own line. Special waste should not hide inside the normal disposal cost.

Questions

Should I charge a client to take waste away?
Yes. Disposal costs you time, fuel and a fee. Put it on the quote as its own line, or include it in the price.
What if the client will get rid of the waste?
Agree it in writing. Say which items they remove and where you leave them. Take the disposal cost off the quote.
Do I need a licence to carry waste?
Rules differ by area. Check your local rules. These scripts give no legal advice.
Do these messages send automatically?
No. You write and send every message on this page yourself. BizBinder does not track your tip receipts or message a client for you.

Want disposal shown clearly on the invoice?

You write and send every message on this page yourself. BizBinder has no waste line type, no expense tracking and no receipt storage. You can add disposal to a quote or invoice as its own line with a clear description. Write what you agreed in the job notes.
