Off sick scripts, for the morning illness stops your work

Seven messages for the morning you cannot work. They cover today’s client, the rest of this week’s list, and a job left half done. Three more cover a new enquiry, asking someone to cover, and a partner messaging on your behalf. The last one offers a client the first slot back. Fill in your details once at the top of this page, and every script below updates.

On a morning when you cannot work, you have no time to write a message from scratch. These seven scripts are for the people who must hear from you first.

Start with today’s client. Then message the other clients booked this week. There is a message for a job left half done, and a reply for a new enquiry. One script asks someone to cover an urgent job. A partner or family member can send another script for you. The last one offers a client the first slot back. Fill in your details once at the top of this page, and every script below updates.

Scripts

Script 01 · Text to today’s client

Text

Hi [Client name], it's [Your name]. I'm unwell and can't come today. I'll confirm a new time by [confirm-by date]. Sorry for the short notice.

Why it works A short, honest text sent early stops a client from waiting at home for a visit that will not happen.

Script 02 · Message to this week’s clients

Text

Hi [Client name], it's [Your name] from [Your business]. I'm off sick this week and need to move your booking. I'll contact you by [confirm-by date] with a new time.

Why it works Send one message to each client booked this week, in booking order. Then nobody hears the news late.

Script 03 · A client with a job half done

Email

Subject: Where things stand while I am off sick

Hi [Client name], I am off sick and cannot come back to your job today. [What is finished] is done. [What is left] still needs doing. The site is safe. [Materials or tools] will stay [location] until I am back. I will confirm a return date by [confirm-by date]. [Your name]

Why it works The client learns what is finished, what is left, and where the materials stay. These are their three main worries.

Script 04 · A short reply to a new enquiry

Email

Subject: Thanks for getting in touch, a short delay on my reply

Hi, Thanks for getting in touch with [Your business]. I am off sick, so my replies are slower than usual this week. I will reply with [return estimate] by [confirm-by date]. If it cannot wait, [urgent contact or instructions]. [Your name]

Why it works An honest delay with a real estimate is better than silence. It also makes no promise that you cannot keep.

Script 05 · Asking someone to cover a job

Text

Hi [trade name], it's [Your name]. I'm off sick and have a job that can't wait: [job details]. Could you cover it? Happy to return the favor.

Why it works Name the job and ask directly. Then the other trade has what they need to say yes fast.

Script 06 · A partner or family member messaging on your behalf

Text

Hi [Client name], this is [name], [Your name]'s [partner/family member]. [Your name] is unwell and cannot come today. [Your name] will confirm a new time by [confirm-by date].

Why it works The client knows who sent the message and why. They do not have to guess.

Script 07 · Back at work, offering the first slot back

Text

Hi [Client name], it's [Your name]. I'm back at work. You were near the top of my list, so I'd like to offer you the first slot: [proposed date]. Does that work?

Why it works A specific date gives the client a simple yes or no. They do not have to chase you for a time.

Questions

Do I need to say what is wrong with me?
No. Say that you are unwell. Give a date when you will confirm a new time. The rest stays private.
Should I offer a discount for the delay?
No. Illness is not a service failure, so it does not need a discount. Offer a clear new date and keep your price.
What if the client books someone else while I am off?
That is a fair choice for a job that cannot wait. When you are back, send the rebooking script to the clients who waited.
Do these messages send automatically?
No. You write and send every message on this page yourself. BizBinder has no away setting and does not message clients in bulk. It does not reschedule a job on its own. On its own timer, it sends reminders on a sent invoice and runs a recurring invoice.

Want a fast list of who to call first?

You write and send every message on this page yourself. Nothing here goes out on its own. BizBinder’s This week view shows the jobs booked for this week in one list. Start at the top and call each client. Sent invoices still get their reminders while you are off. A recurring invoice keeps going until you pause it.
